Starring Jared Harris, Stellan SkarsgaМЉrd and Emily Watson, Chernobyl dramatizes the story of the 1986 nuclear accident — one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history — and the sacrifices made to save Europe from unimaginable disaster. Shes 30, and moved to the US from the UK right before we met. I don't mean detailed specifics only a history major would know, I mean things I'd assume pretty much anybody would have at least heard about in passing somehow, at some point. For example, she didn't know Italy was allied with Germany in WWII, or who Moussalini was. Or she never heard of the Hindenburg. Last night I was telling her about how I was was watching the new series about Chernobyl on HBO, and how interesting it seemed. She kind of just gave a disinterested/blank answer. After that I kind of just stared blankly at her. Its such a famous disaster I was genuinely shocked how someone would have never encountered mention of it. I told her it would be like if I told her I never heard of the Titanic before. She then called me an asshole for making her feel bad and cried. After calming her down I went on to explain to her what happened. She went to art school instead of regular university, and is in a creative profession. Here we are again on a Friday! First of all, I had major issues with getting images on this post. Every time I'd hit return, everything above would disappear. And after puzzling over this for a while, I just decided to work with it the way it is. Yesterday I went to the Girls State Track Meet in Des Moines. Middle Sister qualified in the 3000, so it was exciting to watch her compete with some great runners. It was a beautiful day, but I am glad Middle Sister ran in the morning since temps in the afternoon were over 90 degrees. We haven't seen weather like that since last summer! 1. RIKILIO Pajama Set- I used to wear pajamas every night. I've moved to the type of person who wears their exercise clothes to bed so I will feel more obligated to get up and work out when my alarm goes off (this trick only works some of the time). If I were a pajama wearing person, I'd really like these. Ukraine could come have up with a solution by itself, but “it should have started 10 years ago,” says Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky, the director of the Kiev Center of Political Research and Conflict Studies. “Of course Kiev doesn’t have the money to repair and upgrade the reactors, but there are still ways to solve this. One of the most efficient ones lies in Moscow, in the Kurchatov nuclear research institute. The problem has fallen victim to Kiev’s politics. Despite the apocalyptic buzz, predicting a new Chernobyl is taking things too far, Ukrainian experts believe. The danger is no less real, however, even if it’s less dramatic in scale. The reactors might not be about to melt down and send a massive radioactive cloud billowing into the atmosphere, like Chernobyl did - instead, they will simply stop working, plunging large parts of Ukraine into a blackout. ’s up, switch off - it would be left without half or more generator assemblies. Sixty percent of our energy comes from nuclear power plants - this means we would have a blackout.  Chernobyl 5 Episode.
Widmore moves over a copy of Wired magazine to sit on Faraday's couch. Wired is an American magazine that reports on how technology affects culture, the economy, and politics. The issue shown is the August 2003 "super power" issue, which dealt with X-ray vision, invisibility, and "A user's guide to time travel". LOST co-creator J.J. Abrams guest-edited the May 2009 edition of Wired (issue 17-05), including a numbers-themed puzzle on pp. 104-105. (3) Daniel mentions Chernobyl. The 1986 Chernobyl disaster was a nuclear reactor accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union. It is considered to be the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history. Daniel crying at the television is reminiscent of Billy Pilgrim's memory loss and random tears in the book Slaughterhouse-Five. Daniel uses Miles in an attempt to convince Dr. Chang he is from the future, which is similar to Billy Pilgrim using Montana Wildhack to convince his daughter that he had been to the future/Tralfamadore.  Chernobyl Episode 5 watch online.
